Nike truly celebrated the 40th anniversary of its Air Force 1 in style, giving us fellow sneakerheads a range of colourways worth celebrating. Diving into the silhouette’s archive, the Swoosh brings back some OG features with this “Sail Noble Green” pair and is sure to please some of the older Air Force heads.The noble green taps into the varsity colours of an 80s Collegiate Basketball team, a shade not too different from the Michigan State “Spartan Green” Dunk retro from 2020. Another interesting change to the upper is the OG stitching taken from the shoe’s debut ’82 version, giving the white leather sidewall a much more stripped back finish. Taking hints from an even older Nike Basketball shoe that was released in ’73, the exposed mesh tongue nods to the Nike Blazer that launched nearly ten years before the Air Force 1. Inside the shoe, the standard “Nike Air” has been swapped for a retro yellow flag with a red swoosh, the words below reading “NIKE The Sports & Athletics Company”, hinting at the brand’s early years.
